I am always looking for ways to dress up my protein shakes. This recipe uses cold brew coffee and chocolate protein powder to create a frappe like drink.
Many protein powders have a distinct flavor, so I added a little cocoa powder to boost the chocolate flavor without adding calories. Protein powders are usually mixed with water (bland), milk, or almond milk. Using black cold brewed coffee as the liquid adds flavor without calories. Plus, a little caffeine kick never hurts.
This is great as a breakfast shake, or a mid-day snack that fills you up without excess calories.

minuteIngredients
1 c. cold brew coffee
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1/2 tsp. cocoa powder
1 c. ice
Directions
- Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Yes, it’s that easy!
Notes
- Cocoa powder has only about 5 calories per tsp. So, your calorie count for this drink will be whatever the calorie count of your chocolate protein powder is per scoop.
- A splash of milk or almond milk can be added if desired to add a touch of creaminess
